Bonding is usually a simple, straight-forward process. A composite resin is used to repair, for example, a chipped tooth. We can shape and polish it to match the surrounding teeth, thereby restoring your smile.

Bonding has many other uses. It can fill in gaps between teeth, to make one or more teeth look longer, or change their shape or color. Bonding can even used to protect part of a tooth’s root if it’s been exposed due to gum recession.

The resin is a putty-like material we can mold into any necessary shape. Once it’s in place, whether it’s repairing a chip or filling a gap, we smooth it and harden it with an ultraviolet light or laser. As a final step, there is a little more trimming, shaping, and polishing. Once the resin matches the rest of the teeth in color and texture, we’re done. Depending on the complexity of the procedure, the whole thing usually takes about half an hour.
