You’re chewing an apple and hear an odd sound, then something in your mouth feels wrong. One of your crowns has come off. If you contact us at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry ASAP, chances are the crown can be re-cemented.
What do you do when your dental crown comes off? It’s critical that you take the following steps:
Don’t Swallow It!
This may seem obvious, but we mention it because it’s happened. Carefully take the crown out of your mouth. If you accidentally swallow it, you will have some extra issues that aren’t pleasant.
Look Carefully
Inspect the crown and your tooth. If there is damage to either, we’ll need that information. Which brings us to number 3:
Call Century City Aesthetic Dentistry
We will schedule you an appointment promptly and advise you on whether you should use temporary cement to re-attach the crown until you can get into Dr. Bill Dorfman, DDS – Century City Aesthetic Dentistry and have it permanently re-cemented.
Clean Gently
Use a soft toothbrush to carefully clean the crown and the exposed partial tooth.
Handle With Care
While waiting for the crown to be re-cemented, don’t each anything that is chewy, sticky, or crunchy.
At Bill Dorfman DDS Century City Aesthetic Dentistry, we can re-cement or replace dental crowns. We provide general and family dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and are big advocates of preventative dental care. Schedule an appointment with us today.
