7 Steps For A Healthy Smile In Beverly Hills

Focus On Your Dental Hygiene In Beverly Hills

‘An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.’

Benjamin Franklin coined this phrase in the 1730s as advice for fire safety. However, like all timeless quotes, it applies to many more aspects of life, particularly dental health.

Keeping your smile beautiful and healthy is done most effectively with preventative measures. Some of the most important guidelines are highlighted here.

1. Make a habit of brushing your teeth. Do it twice a day for 2 minutes. Be sure to use an ADA approved toothpaste and toothbrush. They can be purchased at any Beverly Hills area drugstore.

2. Don’t forget the floss! Flossing between your teeth daily will do wonders for your teeth and keep your gums healthy too. Maintain fresh breath, while fighting gum disease!

3. Wear a protective mouthguard whenever you are engaged in an activity where your mouth could possibly be damaged. This includes many Los Angeles recreation league and school sponsored sports.

4. Don’t smoke. As if you needed yet another reason not to!

5. Avoid piercing your lips, tongue, cheek, or any other part of your mouth that someone decided you should shove a metal bar through. Piercings put you at greater risk for chipped teeth, infection and nerve damage. It’s a dangerous fashion that you’ll want to avoid.

6. Stay away from snacks that have a lot of sugar or starch.

7. Schedule regular cosmetic dentistry visits, of course!

Correcting Severe Dental Problems in Los Angeles

Cosmetic Dentistry Corrects Severe Dental Problems in Los Angeles Each separate restorative and cosmetic dentistry procedure performed in Beverly Hills can address a specific dental problem. For example, porcelain veneers can perfect the surface of a tooth that is discolored or slightly misshapen. Dental bonding can fill a small chip in an otherwise healthy tooth.

Some Los Angeles dental problems are more extensive and require a combination of procedures. Crown restoration combined with soft tissue grafts can restore a severely decayed tooth with the root exposed. A bone graft and dental implant can restore a missing tooth in an area where the jaw bone has receded. Orthodontia followed by tooth bleaching totally transforms a smile by straightening and whitening.

What is the difference between tooth bleaching and whitening? Whitening is the term for procedures which remove surface stains to restore the degree of natural lightness. Bleaching goes even further by lightening teeth beyond their natural shade. That’s right: you don’t have to resign yourself to yellow teeth even if they have been that way your whole life! The natural shade of your teeth, by the way, like your skin and hair color, is determined by genetics.

Some Los Angeles smiles have been gleaming for years by regular teeth whitening. You can maintain the whiteness of your teeth just as you maintain your fitness level. (Of course it is a lot easier to make a quick visit to your Los Angeles dentist once a year for whitening touch-ups than sweating in a gym several times a week!)

We live in an age where severe dental problems can be permanently corrected. You don’t have to participate in a TV makeover show to access these premium cosmetic dental procedures. They are available right here in Los Angeles, Beverly Hills and Century City. Dr. Bill Dorfman uses the same advanced training and extensive experience to keep the smiles of famous actors and musicians camera-ready as he does on his daily dental patients.

Relieving Your Dental Anxiety At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry

Try Sedation Dentistry In Beverly Hills

Hello Beverly Hills dental blog visitors, welcome to the Century City Aesthetic Dentistry blog. I am Dr. Bill Dorfman and I specialize in cosmetic dentistry and smile design.

A close friend of mine recently expressed fears about her upcoming root canal. She was anxious about the pain she might experience and worried about getting work off for the multiple office visits to complete the procedure. I assured her that painful root canal procedures are a thing of the past with modern dentistry.

With the latest technology and anesthetics, a root canal (endodontic treatment) is no more painful than receiving a filling. Most root canals can be completed in one or two short office visits.

My friend’s anxiety was diminished when she knew what to expect. If you have been neglecting your teeth because of fears or concerns about a particular procedure and have not been to your Los Angeles dentist recently, I encourage you to schedule an exam, cleaning, and consultation today. We are accepting new Beverly Hills dentistry patients at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry. Talk to us about sedation dentistry, a procedure we use to help nervous dental patients relax.

My staff and I at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry offer fresh breath treatment, fast teeth whitening, porcelain veneers, and all general and preventative dental procedures.

If you are interested in smile design or dental crowns, call us today to schedule an appointment.

Tooth-Colored Fillings in Beverly Hills

Tooth Colored Fillings In Beverly Hills Hello! Welcome to the Century City Aesthetic Dentistry blog. If this your first visit, we hope you find useful information about our Beverly Hills cosmetic dentistry practice. If you have read some of our previous articles, we are glad you checked back with us. We post new articles regularly.

My name is Bill Dorfman, DDS. I have been practicing cosmetic dentistry in the Beverly Hills area since 1985. Century City Aesthetic Dentistry is a full-service dental office located at 2080 Century Park E Ste 1601, Los Angeles CA. In addition to providing comprehensive oral health examinations and deep cleanings for clients in the Beverly Hills area, we perform all types of tooth restorations.

When a tooth has decay or has been damaged, a dental restoration is needed to ‘restore’ the tooth to its previous intact condition. A dental filling is one of the most common and well-known types of restorations. A dental filling is used to repair decayed or damaged tooth surfaces. Most people have a few fillings in their mouth.

If you have old silver amalgam fillings, we can replace them with nearly-invisible tooth colored fillings. These fillings are made out of a strong composite resin. Many of our Beverly Hills cosmetic dentistry patients have replaced their old silver fillings with fillings matched to their teeth. You can improve your smile instantly and relatively inexpensively by getting rid of the ‘metal’.

Another reason some Beverly Hills clients have had their old fillings replaced is because they are concerned about the possible heavy metal toxicity of the mercury in the silver.

If you would like try instant teeth whitening by replacing your amalgam fillings, call us at 877-703-7062 to schedule a consultation. We are currently accepting new patients and would be happy to show you around our Beverly Hills cosmetic dental office and introduce you to our friendly team.

Smile – it increases your face value!

Smile Perfection in Century City

Cosmetic Dentistry Century City

The most difficult part of attaining perfection is finding something to do for an encore. -Author Unknown

We are perfectionists at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry where we create perfect smiles for our cosmetic dental and smile makeover patients.

Here are some of the cosmetic dental procedures we use in smile makeovers at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry in Century City.

Implant Dentistry
Dental implants are the ultimate tooth restoration available in Century City or anywhere else, for that matter. A tooth implant consists of a metal post that is inserted into your jawbone. The post replaces the root of the missing tooth.

After a few months, it meshes with your jawbone to provide the strength and integrity of a natural tooth. A base and natural-looking dental crown is permanently attached to the post. For most Century City patients with missing teeth, it is the preferred restoration. Implants can also be used to attach dentures and partial dentures for no-slip implant/denture combos.

Crowns
A mainstay of Century City cosmetic dentistry, dental crowns are more beautiful than ever. New fabrication technologies and materials have improved the aesthetics and strength of this restorative option.

Veneers
A veneer is a more conservative treatment than a full crown. This is a good choice for Century City patients whose teeth are structurally sound but have unsightly flaws such as discoloration, chips, cracks, or imperfect shape. Are you one of the many Century City teens or adults with dark tetracycline stains? Call us today at 877-703-7062 to say goodbye to tetracycline stains!

Inlays/Onlays
Inlays and onlays (indirect fillings) are designed and fabricated using dental CAD/CAM software. These fillings are strong, attractive, and precisely fitted to the cavity.

Tooth Whitening
Teeth bleaching is the crowning touch for a perfect smile. (It’s the only thing you need if you are a fortunate Century City man or woman with perfectly-shaped and aligned teeth.) No one has to live with dull or stained teeth. Call us today for a teeth whitening consultation at our Century City office.

Soft, Medium, or Buzz Lightyear?

Dental Hygiene Los Angeles At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry, Dr. Bill Dorfman is often asked how to choose the most basic tool of oral hygiene, the toothbrush. Picking a toothbrush in Los Angeles can be as difficult as choosing a paint color, and there seems to be just as many choices.

If you have visited the dental section of your local Los Angeles grocery store or Walmart lately, you know what I am talking about. There are brushes with bristles of varying lengths, brushes that massage your gums, and brushes that change color when they are used up. (If I had to rate them purely on their fun factor, I would choose the Spiderman brush.)

Some toothbrush manufacturers claim their brushes give you fresh breath or remove stains from your teeth. How do you choose?

One key factor is the firmness of the bristles. Hard bristles may be more effective for cleaning burnt steak off a grill or hard water deposits off a shower floor. However, this does not hold true for your teeth. Medium and firm brushes can damage your gums. Soft and extra-soft bristles are plenty stiff enough to clean plague, food particles, and surface stains from your teeth. Soft bristles also offer more flexibility for hard-to-reach nooks and crannies.

After having cosmetic dental work or oral surgery in Los Angeles, especially anything involving soft tissue grafts, make sure you use an extra-soft brush and be careful!

When buying a toothbrush for a child in Los Angeles, make sure the brush feels comfortable in their hand. If the size and angle feels awkward, the child will be less likely to use it long enough to clean all areas of the mouth. Children do not necessarily need a child-sized tooth brush. Some kids can manage an adult size brush better than a short, narrow child size brush. If you are unsure, ask your Los Angeles dentist at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry.

What about the electric types and water-shooters? Some Los Angeles folks like the feeling of vibrating bristles or a mini-squirt gun blasting away at the plaque. People with arthritis or other movement-inhibiting conditions can benefit from powered brushes which take some strain off hands and arm muscles.

Is your toothbrush doing the job? Schedule an exam with your Los Angeles dentist at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry.

At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry, our professional and aware dental hygienists instruct our Los Angeles patients on proper brushing and flossing. If you haven’t experienced a dental deep cleaning at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry, you don’t know how clean your teeth and gums can feel.

Schedule a thorough dental cleaning today by calling Century City Aesthetic Dentistry at 877-703-7062. An outstanding feature of Century City Aesthetic Dentistry is own in house lab. We offer professional teeth whitening and a full spectrum of restorative dental procedures.

Affordable Teeth Whitening?

Home Whitening Beverly Hills If you are like most Beverly Hills web users, you have probably seen the multitude of ads for ‘free teeth whitening kits’.

Some show a ‘real Beverly Hills mom’ who discovered a ‘tooth whitening secret’. Others assure you that their system is the one that ‘your dentists don’t want you to know about’. Many contain a link to a page that contains a convincing tooth whitening testimonial. They bolster their legitimacy by aligning themselves with respected companies such as CNN, USA Today and Forbes.

Unfortunately, most of these are rip-offs. In a recent article, the Better Business Bureau explains the scam:

The countless Web sites for various teeth whitening products claim to offer a no-risk, money back guarantee, free trial of the product. To sign up, customers must provide a credit or debit card number to cover shipping. Complainants to BBB state that they are billed before their trial ends and continue to be billed after they have told the company they want to cancel.

Complainants also may find mystery charges for other companies and services that they didn’t realize they were signing up for with their ‘free’ trial.

The BBB has received complaints about the following company/product names:

  • Dazzle White
  • White Smile
  • Teeth Smile
  • Dazzle Smile
  • Ivory White
  • Max White
  • My Whitening
  • Gleaming White Smile
  • Advanced Wellness Research

Don’t trust your smile to an internet scammer. Your Beverly Hills cosmetic dental office is the only place for safe teeth bleaching. You don’t want to take a chance with your credit card number or your tooth enamel! Call us at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry for advanced cosmetic dentistry and worry-free Zoom whitening. You can reach us at 877-703-7062.

Beverly Hills Mouths And Stomatitis

Dental Health Beverly Hills

Ouch! The mouth is not a fun place for injuries, sores, or inflammation. It seems that even the smallest irritation in the mouth can cause serious discomfort for Beverly Hills dental patients.

These non-specific irritations in the mouth have a name. They are called stomatitis.

A good general definition for stomatitis is the inflammation of the membranes in the mouth. These usually affect a person’s ability to speak, eat, and even get to sleep at night. If you suffer from mouth sores, you know that stomatitis can really impact the lives of Beverly Hills residents.

Some common causes of stomatitis can be canker sores or cold sores, gum disease, biting the inside of your mouth or your tongue, burning your mouth, and irritation caused by braces or broken teeth. Many sores in the mouth will generally clear up on their own in less than two weeks.

However, your Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist can determine if it is caused by a viral or bacterial infection, and they can also advise you on treating the symptoms of stomatitis with pain relievers and at-home remedies such as salt water rinses.

Hi. I’m Dr. Bill Dorfman of Century City Aesthetic Dentistry in the Beverly Hills area, and I want my patients to have the best oral health possible. I also want them to look their best, so if you have any questions about smile makeovers, give us a call at 877-703-7062.

Common cosmetic dentistry procedures used in smile makeovers include teeth whitening, dental crowns, veneers, bonding, and dental implants.

We hope to see you in our Beverly Hills area office soon!

Beverly Hills Guide To Plaque, Calculus, And Cavities

Dental Health Beverly Hills

Hi. I’m Dr. Bill Dorfman. Welcome to my Beverly Hills dental blog! I find that many of my patients in the Beverly Hills area get a couple of dental hygiene terms mixed up. Today, I would like to clarify the differences between plaque, calculus, and cavities.

Plaque is a film that covers teeth – a sticky layer of bacteria. You can remove plaque through daily brushing and flossing. However, if it isn’t removed it can build up and harden into calculus.

Calculus, also known as tartar, is hardened plaque that also accumulates minerals from food and saliva. Regular check-ups and cleanings with your Beverly Hills cosmetic dentist are necessary to remove tartar as well as hard-to-reach plaque.

Plaque and calculus are not cavities, but they can lead to cavities. A cavity is basically a hole in the tooth caused by decay. Because plaque and calculus contain bacteria, the bacteria release acids which accelerate tooth decay and eventually lead to more cavities.

A good rule of thumb for Beverly Hills dental patients is this: Avoid plaque to avoid calculus and tartar to avoid tooth decay to avoid cavities. Got it?

I hope you’ve found this helpful, and if you’re in the Beverly Hills area and are in need of quality dental care, call our office at 877-703-7062 to schedule an appointment today.

Our professional and aware staff would love to answer any questions you have about our services, including cosmetic dentistry, teeth whitening, and veneers.
