Artistic Smile Masterpieces At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry

Hello Los Angeles friends of Century City Aesthetic Dentistry! Thanks for stopping by the ultimate cosmetic dentistry blog. Today we are talking about personal transformation. Many Los Angeles men and women want to reinvent themselves in at least one aspect of their life.

Some people are training for a new career. Some Los Angeles men and women have made a healthy lifestyle a priority by making better food choices and working out on a regular basis. Some people are dedicating more attention to their personal relationships.

At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry, Dr. Bill Dorfman skillfully uses advanced cosmetic dentistry to transform lucky patients with complete smile makeovers.

A comprehensive smile redesign involves more than applying four or six porcelain veneers to the upper front teeth. Though veneers can dramatically improve a smile, a complete smile makeover is a total smile transformation.

Dr. Dorfman evaluates the condition, size, shape, alignment, and color of the teeth. These elements are created, meticulously refined, and integrated in perfect harmony. The procedures Dr. Dorfman adeptly uses are dental crowns and bridges, inlays/onlays, cosmetic bonding, teeth whitening, and dental implants. He even offers fresh breath treatment to make sure that your smile is beautiful in every way.

Like any artistic masterpiece, a perfect smile is far more than the sum of its parts.

If you have a vision for your smile, it can become a reality at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry. Schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation today by calling (877) 331-9291 or visiting http://www.billdorfmandds.com/meet-the-team/dr-dorfman/.

Saliva And Los Angeles’s Dental Health

February 17th, 2012

Saliva And Los Angeles

Hi. I’m Dr. Bill Dorfman. Welcome to my Los Angeles dental blog. Today we’ll be looking at the complexity and importance of your saliva. Though most people in the Los Angeles area may think it’s gross, saliva is essential to dental health as well as digestion.

Saliva is mostly water, but a small portion of it is made up of enzymes, antibacterial substances, mucus, and minerals. The pH balance of the mouth is maintained by saliva, and pH balance is a key factor in the development of cavities and other forms of tooth decay.

The minerals in saliva help to maintain the enamel surface of the teeth. Immunoproteins in saliva inhibit the overgrowth of microbes in the mouth, thereby protecting the gums from gingivitis.

Now that Los Angeles residents know how important saliva is to dental health, I’m sure you can see why ample salivary flow should concern you. For most of my Los Angeles patients, everyday chewing is enough to stimulate salivary glands to release saliva. However, dry mouth, also known as xerostomia, is an ailment that should be dealt with quickly before oral health complications occur.

If you are in the Los Angeles area and are looking for quality dental care, please contact my office today at (877) 331-9291. We have been providing general and cosmetic dentistry in Los Angeles since 1985.

Our professional and aware staff would be happy to talk to you about cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, porcelain veneers, smile design, and the other services we provide to our valued patients.

Century City Aesthetic Dentistry Smile Makeovers Its Not Just About Your Teeth

I have been creating spectacular smiles at my Century City area cosmetic dental practice since 1985. Each one of my Century City smile makeover clients values their new smile almost as much as I value their trust.

My loyal patients, along with my dedicated dental team, have made my professional career particularly rewarding.

Working as a cosmetic dentist in Century City is more than just a job. Likewise, a smile makeover is more than straight, white, beautiful teeth – though that’s a big deal in itself!

My Century City cosmetic dentistry clients report that their new smile affects many areas of their life. Some have noticed increased effectiveness in their profession. Others enjoy a richer social life because they are now able to smile, laugh, and eat without self-consciousness.

One of my Century City patients who had been embarrassed by his damaged teeth for years says his new youthful smile has given him greater confidence and ambition.

Los Angeles Cosmetic Dentistry at Century City Aesthetic Dentistry

January 20th, 2012

Cosmetic Denistry in Beverly Hills Do you have a damaged tooth that causes you embarrassment? Even if all your other teeth are nicely shaped and pearly white, guess what other people notice? Yep, the ugly duckling. You have probably experienced that yourself when you have looked at a smile that contains one discolored tooth. No matter how hard you try, the unsightly one is impossible to ignore.

A beautiful smile is an important component of your overall appearance. Unattractive teeth draw the eye away from other pleasing features such as thick shiny hair, gorgeous eyes or a peaches and cream complexion.

Fortunately, there are several cosmetic dental procedures to restore or repair one or more teeth. At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry in Los Angeles, we can complete most of them in one short visit. Think about it; you could achieve a stunning smile in less than an afternoon!

Veneers and Cosmetic Implant Dentistry

Porcelain veneers are a minimally invasive cosmetic fix. Like cosmetic dental bonding, veneers correct chips, cracks and improve tooth shape.

What if your problem is not an unattractive tooth but a missing tooth? Don’t despair, a beautiful smile is still possible in Los Angeles with dental implants.

For more information about veneers, implants and other cosmetic denistry procedures, call Century City Aesthetic Dentistry at (877) 331-9291. We are conveniently located at 2080 Century Park E, Ste 1601 in Los Angeles. We provide advanced dentistry for patients in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. We look forward to showing you cosmetic dentistry ‘before & after’ pictures.

Dr. Bill Dorfman’s Top 5 Dental Questions

January 17th, 2012

Another exciting year is around the corner, and we’d like to share cosmetic dentist Dr. Dorfman’s Top 5 Dental Questions of 2011 to help you get a fabulous start and smile for the New Year. Seasons Greetings, and thank you for letting us help you attain your billion dollar smile!

1. Is it true that adding milk to coffee keeps your teeth safer when drinking?

Using milk doesn’t keep your teeth safer, but it helps with staining because it is a milder color, so the milk dilutes the color of the coffee.

2. What foods affect your smile and oral health negatively?

Aside from the foods commonly known to negatively affect smiles such as wine, cola, coffee, and tea, sucking on lemons will eat away at your teeth’s enamel . Popcorn kernels and ice may crack teeth when someone bites them.

3. What are the best times to brush your teeth? Does brushing after carbonation make a difference?

It’s best to brush your teeth at least twice a day, specifically after meals. Brushing after carbonation would make the greatest difference if the drink was acidic (like colas) in order to get acid off the teeth.

4. Does the hotness or coldness of a drink affect your teeth?

The only effect a drink’s temperature has on teeth is that sometimes people are sensitive to hot and cold. However, it doesn’t cause any permanent damage.

5. How can pregnancy affect your teeth?

Pregnancy doesn’t affect teeth as much as people may think. The big myth is that the baby pulls calcium out of teeth causing decay, which is completely false. What does occur is hormonal fluctuations cause a condition known as Pregnancy Gingivitis, noted as red puffy bleeding gums. If you are pregnant and experiencing this condition, please contact your Century City dentist, Dr. Bill Dorfman.

Tooth Ache Pain The Size of Beverly Hills

January 13th, 2012

Los Angeles Tooth Whitening Patients often come into our cosmetic dental practice and complain about ‘a toothache the size of Beverly Hills’. I understand this kind of pain, and realize that when you describe it like that, it really hurts. I can help.

Toothache pain for anyone in Beverly Hills can be unbearable. At the very least, toothache pain can cause you to avoid eating certain foods, certain temperatures, and even talking. Severe toothache pain can be downright debilitating, forcing patients to go to extreme measures to alleviate the pain.

Around Beverly Hills, the most common causes of a toothache include tooth infection, decay, injury, and loss of a tooth. Tooth pain can also occur after a tooth has been extracted, or after an oral surgery involving anything from a tooth or your jawbone.

I can help you better understand the source of your toothache pain, and in most cases can provide a nearly immediate remedy. In severe cases, we are equipped to council you on a variety of resolutions.

Of course, the best way to avoid tooth pain is to visit your Beverly Hills dentist often, and to exercise good oral health by properly caring for your teeth, including the regular regimen of brushing and flossing.

If you are experiencing toothache pain, and just can’t stand it any more, please give me a call; I am standing by to help. If fear of the dentist is keeping you from visiting, you may be a prime candidate for sedation dentistry. Be sure to ask about it when you come in for your appointment.

Dental Tips 101: Back to Basics for the New Year

January 12th, 2012

As the calendar resets itself for the New Year, I think it’s a great time to review basic dental care. Whether you’re a Los Angeles area resident who has recently had a cosmetic dental treatment that you want to maintain or simply want to take the best care of your teeth possible, the most important thing you can do is to keep a consistent, daily dental routine.

Here are my tips for proper teeth maintenance:

-Brush teeth regularly. Always use a soft brush. Even though you may think that a hard brush will do a better job, it doesn’t. In fact, hard brushes destroy teeth. Typically, manual users spend only 24-60 seconds brushing–that’s not enough! Use a manual toothbrush for three to five minutes. Or with a power brush like Sonicare (which is what I use), two minutes get the job done.

-Use a simple yet effective brushing technique:

1) Hold the brush at a 45 degree angle against your gums.

2) Rotate the brush gently in small, circular motions.

3) Brush the outer surfaces of each tooth on both the upper and lower arches.

4) Repeat on the inside and chewing surfaces of all teeth.

-Floss regularly. Watch me discuss how and why to floss properly on The Doctors TV show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=52zQ0REyR0Y&list=UU9cD910PBI7upPIufL4N0zg&index=2&feature=plcp

-See your dentist regularly.

-For fresh breath, I recommend the BreathRx brush and floss, scrape and rinse regimen. After brushing, scrape the tongue with a BreathRx Tongue Scraper to remove bad breath-causing bacteria. Move it from the back of the tongue toward the front, sweeping bacteria out of the mouth. Rinse with water and an alcohol-free mouthwash like BreathRx.

Easy, right? It still amazes me how many people neglect these simple things, inviting a host of dental problems that could have been avoided.

Use these dental hygiene tips to get a fresh start to a Happy New Year!

Los Angeles Whiter Smiles

January 6th, 2012

Los Angeles Pediatric Dentistry Wishing for a whiter smile in Los Angeles but not sure how to get it? New to tooth whitening lingo? At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry, we educate clients on the variety of affordable Los Angeles teeth whitening treatments; from whitening trays to teeth bleaching to zoom whitening. We do Los Angeles teeth whitening every day.

Almost every toothpaste claims to whiten teeth, but as we age our teeth gradually turn yellow or gray, despite all the whitening toothpastes we use regularly. Tooth enamel, while one of the hardest substances in the body, is porous. Over time, the food and drinks that comes in contact with our teeth cause staining and discoloration. You probably have already discovered that a toothbrush cannot clean these microscopic pores.

Carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide are the two main smile whitening ingredients. They can penetrate the outer layer of your teeth to remove the build-up, and help restore whitening to teeth. Call Century City Aesthetic Dentistry at (877) 331-9291 to schedule an appointment and we will explain the difference between these tooth bleaching ingredients and how they may affect your Los Angeles smile whitening results.

Los Angeles at-home teeth whitening products are probably not a good choice if you have dental crowns or veneers. You could end up with extremely uneven results or possible damage to your existing Los Angeles cosmetic dentistry.

We know the best Los Angeles teeth bleaching options and can recommend the perfect white smile solution for you.

At Century City Aesthetic Dentistry, we hope to see you soon. Give us a call at (877) 331-9291.
